twinlights ep / otherness ep

instead of releasing a full-length album, cocteau twins handed out 2 ep albums in 1995, just a month apart(september and october). twinlights ep contained 4 acoustic tracks, while otherness ep enclosed another 4 tracks with ambient--the twins' long-time-no-see style since 1986's victorialand. Among these 8 tracks, 3 of them are remakes of the old songs, and 4 tracks would appear in the forthcoming ablum milk & kisses, but in very different style.

though these 2 eps were released almost conjointly and shared the same art design concept, they were very different in music style. when listening to these 2 albums, we have to face cocteau twins as an totally "new group", so no wonder these 2 eps received various reactions from different listeners. they are somehow magic, one can never define them correctly by his own opinion.

 

對影 / 異色

four calendar cafe之後，讓樂迷苦等兩年的cocteau twins並沒有如預期那樣推出專輯唱片，而是於95年的九月和十月連續推出了兩張ep唱片。twinlights收錄四首完全acoustic的作品，而隨後的otherness則收錄四首ambient作品，很意外地回到了他們八十年代中期在victorialand里的風格。總共8首作品中，三首改變自早前作品，四首則將出現在幾個月後的新錄音室大碟milk & kisses里，只是編曲和大碟版本有天壤之別。

各花入各眼，樂評和樂迷對這兩張ep一直有讚有彈、褒貶不一，但至少，透過這兩張ep，我們可以感知到cocteau twins音樂的無限可能性。
