the cocteaus' last studio-recording till now. released in late 1995 in the britian and the continent, and early 1996 worldwide including the united states. in milk & kisses, All have come back, the complex multilayer sound-wall of robin's guitar, liz's balderdash, and everything you want that the twins can deliver. the lp was followed by 2 ep albums: tishbite & violaine, each is available in two different versions, tishbite sees a yellow cover version and a blue cover limted edtion one, violaine is available with a pink cover version and a limited green cover one.
chinese pop diva faye wong made a guest appearance in serpentskirt, which is available only in the far east version album. faye wong used a so-called "chinese ad-lib" voice in this song, coloured the duets into an amazing watercolour painting. from 1994 to 1997, faye wong covered several cocteau twins' songs into chinese(both cantonese and mandarin), after they had cooperated in serpentskirt, cocteau twins wrote and produced two songs for faye wong, which later adopted in faye's album fickleness (fuzao. released 1996 cinepoly records co. ltd., hong kong. 7314 532 776 2). split(fenlie), cover version of tranquil eye, later the cocteau twins' own version appeared in violaine ep (pink cover), dispiritment(saoxing), the twins' own version touch upon touch appeared in a compilation cd/magazine volume 17, releaesed in 1996.
cocteau twins seperated in 1998, left the forthcoming album unfinished.
牛奶和香吻
cocteau twins迄今為止最後一張錄音室大碟，歷經four-calendar cafe、twinlights ep和otherness ep的多次改變，cocteau twins的音樂在milk & kisses中做了一些回歸。因爲liz在four-calendar cafe里清晰可辯的歌詞竟然遭到cocteau twins死黨的一致詬病，這位dreampop教母在milk & kisses中遂再次以夢囈代替有形的詞句。而robin的吉他和編曲也回復到華麗繁複，多層音牆效果貫穿始終，再輔以liz的真假兩聲穿插其間，纏纏繞饒遊游離離，在歌曲最後，每一層音牆和liz的真假聲全部分離開來，各自散成一絲分別朝四面八方離散開去，再 fade out，一如煙花的餘輝散去於夜空的刹那，這景況，美得足以教人心碎。
milk & kisses帶出了兩張單曲ep，分別是tishbite和violaine，而每款ep又分別發行普通版和限量版，所以合計一共四張ep，根據封套色調不同，一般稱呼它們tishbite yellow cover、 tishbite blue cover、 violaine pink cover和violaine green cover，其中藍色和綠色為限量版。四張ep除了有大碟版的標題單曲以外，每張都加收各不相同的b-side兩首，全部8首皆是不輸給大碟作品的上乘之作。此四張ep目前已經全部絕版。
milk & kisses無疑是二十世紀九零年代的ethereal/dreampop的代表專輯，但同樣無庸諱言的是這種音樂風格對cocteau twins已變成了沒有挑戰性的理所當然，當一種理所當然擺在面前的時候，要麽尋求新的突破，要麽乾脆放棄，cocteau twins選擇了後者。1998年4月，cocteau twins正式宣佈解散，成員各自單飛，據稱，當時新專輯已經完成大半。我們至今仍不能斷言cocteau twins的解散是福是禍，樂隊成員被問起有否復合希望時，回答總是"never say never"，但是大家都明白，那20年雲端上絲絨般的夢囈，或許只能永遠存在記憶中了。
